Mrs Irene Mendonca has single-handedly organised, for the past few years, an annual do, the proceeds of which go towards Osteoporosis Reasearch and a special screening unit at St George's Hospital in Tooting.  In November 1990 she raised more than £1,300 of which an amount of £400 was also donated to the National Osteoporosis Society in Bath.  Since then, remaining steadfast to the cause, she has managed to raise a substantial amount towards the unit at the Tooting hospital, to avert its near closure.  Another dance was held on 6th April 2008 at which she raised £1,781.25, which will be presented to St Georges Hospital in Tooting.  Doctors have paid tribute to her organisational skills and describe her as a brave lady, working for the benefit of osteoporosis sufferers like herself.  Well done Irene!
